Description:Responsible for organizing, planning, directing, and evaluating nursing and other resident care services.
Duties:• Ensures and oversees implementation of all AdCare Health Systems, Inc. nursing services and standards.
• Directs continuous evaluation of quality of care and resident education by nursing services. Meets regularly with nursing personnel, and representatives of ancillary departments to discuss and resolve resident care problems.
• Recruits staff, implementing staff retention strategies.
• Interviews, hires, counsels, and evaluates staff performance.
• Maintains appropriate level of nursing staff to provide adequate care and safety to residents 24 hours a day.
• Directs, coordinates and oversees preparation of Nursing Service records, reports and analyses.
• Reviews and interprets records and reports to ascertain compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Responsible for the development of and maintenance of nursing service objectives and standards of nursing practice.
• Responsible for scheduling, monitoring and follow up on all non nursing resident care services including: pharmacy, laboratory, physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, podiatry, dental, eye, psychological, psychiatric, etc.
• Maintains regular and ongoing communication with Medical Director and attending physicians.
• Ensures all required records are maintained and submitted, as appropriate, completed accurately in a timely manner.
• Conducts and performs rounds to monitor and evaluate the quality and appropriateness of nursing care.
• Plans, conducts and/or attends department specific and facility-wide in-service education programs.
• Manages the personnel, fiscal, and supply resources of the Nursing Services Department within approved budgetary guidelines.
• Develops and/or directs development of nursing policies and procedures, and maintains, reviews and revises as appropriate.
• Oversees and ensures that all tasks and responsibilities of the Nursing Services Department are in compliance with State and Federal guidelines. Maintains current knowledge and understanding of the same.
• Respects and maintains residents’ dignity, individuality, privacy and confidentiality, remaining knowledgeable of Residents’ Rights.
• Manages State survey process and complaint survey investigations.
• Oversees State Incident reporting to assure complete investigation and intervention.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:• Must be in good standing with Board of Nursing.
• A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years of acute care, long-term care, or geriatric supervisory and management experience in a Medicaid/Medicare certified facility.
• Professional knowledge of nursing practices, management and research and other closely related fields.
• Strong interpersonal, communication and leadership skills.
• Current State nurse license
• CEU’s as required by the State.
